Garner is touted as a versatile midfielder who is one of the best natural leaders in the draft.
The 18-year-old averaged nearly 17 touches a game for Vic Metro in the U18 Championships, playing through the midfield and across half-back.
He also averaged similar numbers for the Eastern Ranges in the TAC Cup, but it was his leadership skills that had everyone praising the youngster.
Like all draftees, a few strong pre-seasons in the coming years will add endurance to Garner’s game, to go along with his quality kicking, rebounding and contested-footy attributes.
